Somalia, Tanzania Partner to Train New Air Traffic Controllers

GOOBJOOG NEWS | DAR ES SALAAM: Somalia’s ambassador to Tanzania and the East African Community (EAC), Ilyas Ali Hassan has inaugurated an Air Traffic Control (ATC) training program for 25 Somali civil aviation personnel in Dar es Salaam.

The training, organized by the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) and hosted by the Tanzanian government, marks a significant step in Somalia’s ongoing efforts to rebuild and modernize its aviation sector.

Ambassador Ilyas, who was joined by TCAA Director General Salim Msange and senior officials, thanked Tanzania for its support and cooperation, noting that the program demonstrates strong regional partnership within the EAC.

He urged the participants to approach the training with commitment and professionalism, emphasizing that their skills will be vital in enhancing Somalia’s air safety, management, and service delivery standards.

The initiative is part of broader regional collaboration to strengthen aviation capacity across East Africa, as Somalia works to expand its role within the EAC and improve its civil aviation governance and infrastructure.
