GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Federal Government of Somalia’s council of ministers Thursday approved the audit of government agencies for the 2023 financial year.

The audit report details the processes and procedures undertaken to ensure transparency and accountability within government institutions.

At the same time, the council of ministers also ratified a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Fisheries and the Blue Economy and the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, which aims to bolster cooperation and development in Somalia’s maritime sector.

During the council of ministers weekly meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, cabinet also received reports from ministers on the ongoing security operations against the Al-shabaab across the country.

Minister of State for the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change presented a report on the conflict in Luuq District earlier this month where he noted that the central government, with support from the Jubbaland regional government, successfully brokered a ceasefire and initiated dialogue to resolve the conflict.

The Ministries of Internal Security and Defense also presented their reports before the cabinet, highlighting ongoing efforts to enhance national security and combat terrorist groups.

The council commended the Somali National Army for its achievements in eliminating terrorist threats and maintaining peace in various regions.
