Somali Cabinet Approves Ambassador Nominations, Endorses Human Rights Policy

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU:  The Federal Government of Somalia’s council of ministers Thursday approved the nomination of two new ambassadors and endorsed a National Procedure Policy for the reporting and monitoring of human rights.

During its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hamse Abdi Barre, the council appointed Abdihakin Mohamed Ahmed Dhobodareed and Yusuf Ahmed Jeego as ambassadors.

However, the specific countries the ambassadors will be sent to, was not released.

At the same time, the ministers reviewed the National Transformation Plan (NTP), which focuses on strengthening the state system and advancing the country’s economic development.

According to a government statement, that the plan will enhance coordination between government agencies, improve monitoring of national policy implementation, and align government programs with Somalia’s long-term development goals.

Also, the council received security reports from the Ministries of Internal Security and Defense, detailing the country’s efforts to stabilize the security situation and eradicate the al-Shabab militant group.
