Somali Cabinet Approves Kenya-Somalia Defence Pact

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Council of Ministers has today approved the Defence Agreement between Somalia and Kenya cementing the deal reached between the two countries early this month.

Foreign Minister Ahmed Fiqi signed the deal with his Kenyan counterpart, Musalia Mudavadi, on the 7th of this month in Nairobi. This was during the third session of the Kenya-Somalia Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC).

The ratification of the agreement adds to other pacts Somalia has entered with several countries including Turkey, Ethiopia and the UAE in recent months.

The Cabinet today also signed the agreement on Promotion and Protection of investment between Somalia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Further, the Cabinet approved the National Higher Education Bill, Government Policy for Somali Teachers and the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations
