Somali Cabinet Launches Probe into Ahmed Madobe’s Alleged Links to Al-Shabaab
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The federal government of Somalia has formed a special committee to investigate the alleged links between Ahmed Madobe and the extremist groups in the country.
This comes following a recent attack on a Somali National Army post in RasKamboni by suspected Al-Shabaab militants believed to have been backed by regional forces linked to Madobe.
Speaking during the Somali cabinet’s regular weekly meeting, Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Abdirahman Sheikh Yusuf said the federal government strongly condemns the attack.
Yusuf described the attack as a deeply regrettable act that undermines national security and unity saying that the act will not go unaddressed and that there will be significant consequences and accountability for those involved.
The committee’s mandate includes a thorough investigation into the nature of the alleged connections between Ahmed Madobe and terrorist groups with the objective of uncovering the extent of these links and ensuring that those responsible for any acts of violence are held accountable under Somali law.
The Federal Government’s action emphasizes its commitment to maintaining stability and security in the region, and its determination to root out extremist influences that threaten the nation’s peace.
The investigation is expected to provide critical insights and guide future actions to safeguard Somalia’s sovereignty and the safety of its citizens.
