GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Somalia’s Council of Ministers on Thursday held its regular weekly meeting, focusing on the country’s security situation, ongoing military operations by the national forces, and the “DanQaran” government’s dialogue initiative aimed at political stakeholders.

The meeting, chaired by Second Deputy Prime Minister Jibril Abdirashid Haji Abdi, commended the Somali National Armed Forces for their role in protecting civilians. Ministers were briefed on a reported operation in Kudhaa, where the government said its forces repelled an Al-Shabaab attempt to harm residents in the area.

During the session, the Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding between Indian Ocean regional Port State Control (PSC) administrations, submitted by the Ministry of Ports and Maritime Transport. It also endorsed Somalia’s Postal Policy for 2025–2030, prepared by the Ministry of Communications and Technology.

The Council further received presentations on a proposed integrated performance-management policy for government institutions and on preparations for a political consultation forum recently announced by the DanQaran administration.
