Defence Minister Visits Serbian Military Institute To Boost Cooperation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | BELGRADE: Defence Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi on Tuesday toured Serbia’s Military Technical Institute in Belgrade as part of efforts to strengthen the Somali National Army and expand international partnerships.

Fiqi was received by senior Serbian defence officials who briefed him on the institute’s work in developing unmanned aerial systems, weapons equipment and armoured vehicles.

The visit underscores Somalia’s push to modernise its forces and seek new areas of defence cooperation beyond its traditional partners.

Defense Minister Fiqi’s recent visit to Serbia and the Military Technical Institute is part of a series of growing partnerships.

These include formal security cooperation, medical support via EU missions, and prior consultations on defence equipment and training, reflecting a deepening Somalia–Serbia defence relationship.
