President Mohamud, PM Abiy Discuss Regional Peace and Economic Partnership

GOOBJOOG NEWS | ADDIS ABABA: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held talks in Addis Ababa on Sunday, pledging to strengthen cooperation on security, development, and regional stability.
The discussions focused on advancing joint initiatives rooted in good neighborliness and mutual respect, with both leaders emphasizing that stronger ties between Mogadishu and Addis Ababa are vital for peace and economic growth in the Horn of Africa.
President Mohamud said Somalia remains committed to regional collaboration in fighting terrorism and fostering stability, while Abiy reiterated Ethiopia’s support for closer coordination on shared priorities.
The meeting is viewed as a step toward easing tensions and reinforcing dialogue between the two countries following months of strained relations, particularly over regional security and sovereignty issues.
The talks build on a series of recent high-level engagements, including the Ankara Declaration of December 2024, aimed at deepening cooperation on trade, infrastructure, and counter-terrorism.
