Somali Forces Free 30 Hostages in Raid on Al-Shabaab Hideout in Lower Shabelle

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali National Army (SNA) special forces carried out a planned overnight raid in Bula Madina, Afgooye district, killing three Al-Shabaab militants and freeing 30 civilians held by the group.

According to an official statement by the Defense Ministry, the rescued hostages included two women. Troops also demolished an illegal detention site and a makeshift court that Al-Shabaab had been using to intimidate and punish residents.

Military officials said the operation is part of wider SNA efforts to dismantle militant networks in Lower Shabelle and improve security for communities long affected by insurgent activity.
