Somali Forces Kill 14 Al Shabaab Fighters in Lower Juba Operation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s elite Danab special forces, working with Jubaland state security units, carried out a planned operation against Al Shabaab militants in the Lower Juba region on Monday, the defence ministry said.

The operation targeted militant positions in areas under Jamaame town and resulted in the killing of 14 fighters, with one other wounded, according to a ministry statement. Remaining militants fled the area, it said.

Somalia’s Ministry of Defence and the Somali National Army said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to weaken the armed group and improve security in southern regions.

The government has intensified coordinated operations with federal member states as it seeks to dismantle al Shabaab networks and restore stability, particularly in areas long affected by insurgent activity.
