Somali Forces Kill Senior Al-Shabaab Commander in Middle Shabelle Raid

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MAHADAY: Somali local forces have killed a senior Al Shabaab commander and three of his bodyguards in a planned operation in the town of Mahaday.

The militant, identified as Muhaydin Hassan, was Al Shabaab’s commander in the Eed Eedka Jimbilo area, according to local authorities.

Forces launched a surprise assault on a hideout where the group was meeting, seizing weapons and other military equipment, officials added.

The operation is part of an ongoing offensive against Al-Shabaab fighters in the Middle Shabelle region, where government and local troops have intensified efforts to drive the group from remaining strongholds.
