Somali Forces Target Al-Shabaab Hideouts, Destroy Boats in Lower Shabelle Operation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali National Army (SNA) troops have carried out a planned operation against Al-Shabaab militants in the Lower Shabelle region.

According to military officials, the offensive, conducted by the 144th and 145th units of the 14th October Brigade, targeted militant positions in several villages near the Janale district, including Malable, Beeraha Baay, Siigaale Bari, and Doonkaa-daafeedow.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdirahim Mohamed Munye, commander of the 14th October Brigade, said the troops destroyed boats used by the group to cross the river and dismantled sites where militants collected extortion money from local farmers.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by Somali forces to weaken Al-Shabaab’s logistical networks and disrupt its revenue sources in southern Somalia.
