Somali Forces, U.S. AFRICOM Conduct Airstrike on ISIS Militants in Puntland

GOOBJOOG NEWS | BOSASO: The Federal Government of Somalia, in coordination with U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), conducted an airstrike targeting ISIS militants in southeastern Bosaso, Puntland, officials said on Wednesday.

The precision strike aimed at ISIS leaders and fighters gathered in the area, supporting Puntland’s Dervish Army operations to dismantle the extremist group, according to a government statement.

“Initial assessments indicate multiple ISIS operatives were neutralized, with no civilian casualties reported,” the statement added.

The Somali government, with the backing of international partners, reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism and countering threats posed by ISIS and Al-Shabaab.

Officials stated that coordinated security operations would continue to ensure national stability and protect civilians from extremist violence.
