GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU : The Somali National Army (SNA), with support from U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), launched precision airstrikes against Al-Shabaab strongholds in the Hirran region, aiming to dismantle the group’s operations and prevent imminent attacks.

According to government sources, the strikes were part of an ongoing counterterrorism campaign designed to neutralize Al-Shabaab’s presence in key areas and bolster national security.

“This operation demonstrates the strength of our collaboration with international allies in the fight against terrorism. We remain committed to eliminating these threats and ensuring the safety of our citizens,” a Somali government spokesperson stated.

The spokesperson emphasized that the SNA-AFRICOM partnership underscores global efforts to eradicate terrorism in Somalia, with the United States and other partners providing vital support, including intelligence, training, and logistics.

While the Somali government did not disclose the number of militants killed in the latest airstrikes, it reaffirmed its dedication to sustained military operations in coordination with international allies.

The latest offensive reflects Somalia’s intensified efforts to weaken Al-Shabaab and restore stability in regions long plagued by insurgent activities.
