Somali Forces, With U.S. Support, Carry Out Air Operation Against Al-Shabaab in Middle Juba

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MIDDLE JUBA: The Somali National Army, working alongside United States military, carried out a planned operation overnight in Saakow district of Middle Juba, government officials said.

The operation specifically targeted facilities used by Al-Shabaab for the production and preparation of explosive devices, sites described as posing a direct threat to civilian lives and national security.

Preliminary reports indicate that the targeted locations were completely destroyed, dealing a significant blow to the militant group’s operational capacity in the area.

Officials said up to 18 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in the strikes, including members identified as explosives specialists responsible for manufacturing improvised explosive devices and carrying out attacks against civilians.

In a statement, the Ministry of Defence and the Somali National Army Command reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying operations against terrorist groups and strengthening efforts aimed at improving security and stability across the country.

Military officials stressed that such operations will continue until Al-Shabaab is fully dismantled and the safety and future of the Somali people are secured.
