A statement from the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdisaid Muse Ali, expressed the Somali government’s condolences to the families of the victims of Monday’s bomb attack and pledged support for the United Arab Emirates.

“I strongly condemn the terrorist attack today in Abu Dhabi. On behalf of the FGS, I express my deep condolences to the victims and their families. Acts of terrorism present a grave danger to regional and international security. We stand in solidarity with the people of the United Arabs Emirates,” read the statement.

The Somali government’s response to Abu Dhabi’s drone attack is the first since the two countries recently mended ties after Somalia accused the Arab nation of meddling in its political issues.

The drone attack, which Iranian-backed Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for, killed at least three people and sparked multiple explosions in the UAE’s capital.
