Somali government has said it would ensure that private security forces are properly regulated following the incident where Bodyguards escorting a senator have killed a civilian driver on Friday night.

The Ministry Internal Security Affairs has sent stern warning to bodyguards of the politicians and companies saying all Somalis have the right to be save, not only those who can afford to pay for it.

” Those people who are driving expensive luxury cars with private security guards have to abide by the law, You may see someone driving such vehicles and committing acts of harassment,  the government will never turn its back on these lawbreakers,” said the ministry’s spokesperson, Abdikamil Moalim.

On Sunday, a civilian driver has been killed after bodyguards escorting Senator Hussein Ali Hajji opened fire on his vehicle.

The shooting took place at Dabka junction in Mogadishu, at around 7:30 p.m. local time and involved , during a traffic jam in the area.

The police managed to capture the killer on the spot following the murder of the civilian driver and he is currently being questioned at criminal investigation department (CID), according to the police.
