Somali Government Secures Release of 22 Somali Youth Detained in Sudan
GOOBJOOG NEWS | PORTSUDAN: The Somali government in coordination with the International Organization for Migration (IOM has facilitated the release of 22 Somali youth who had been detained in Sudan.
Somalia’s Acting Ambassador to Sudan Ahmed Sudani made the announcement Monday saying the youth have departed from Portsudan Airport on their way back to Somalia.
The acting ambassador added that the group, comprising 17 young men and 5 young women, had been held for three months in detention facilities located in Dongola and Gadaref after being apprehended while attempting irregular migration.
However, three Somali youths remain in the custody of Sudanese security authorities as the federal government continues efforts to secure their immediate release and repatriation to the country.
