Somali government vows to bring those behind Monday’s twin bomb explosion to Justice
Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire vowed to bring to book those behind Mondy’s twin bomb explosions in Mogadishu that claimed ten lives mostly civilians.
The first attack took place near a Somali army facility and was operated by a suicide bomber while the second explosion occurred when a vehicle filled with explosives drove into the gate of Weheliye hotel on a busy capital street.
In a statement issued hours after the attacks, the premier said his government would ensure the perpetrators face the full force of the law.
“We will ensure our maximum priority to security and I pledge those blood-thirsty people will face the law. We will focus on ensuring the stability of the country,” said Khaire.
The sentiment of prime minister coincides with a military court sentences slapped with
Al-Shabaab members were behind bombing in Mogadishu on November 26, 2016.
The court on Monday sentenced Al-Shabaab member to death and two others to 15 years in jail after convicting them of being behind a deadly bomb attack at a market in Waberi district.
A spokesman for Somali Islamist insurgent group al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack. “We were behind the Maka al-Mukaram street blast.
“We killed 17 people including senior officials of military and security and former legislators,” said Sheikh Abdiasis Abu Musab, al-Shabaab’s military operation spokesman told Reuters by phone.
