Somalia’s Interior Minister Urges Unity, Lawfulness at SSC-Khaatumo State Talks

GOOBJOOG NEWS | LAS’ANOD: Somalia’s Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Ali Yusuf Ali, has called on delegates at the SSC-Khaatumo state formation conference to uphold national unity and respect the rule of law as the region moves toward federal recognition.
Speaking at the official opening of the conference in Las’anod, Minister Hosh urged participants to approach their duties with a sense of national responsibility and legal integrity.
“You have a historic task ahead,” he told the delegates. “Let your decisions be guided by the constitution, and let your goal be unity, not division.”
The minister emphasized that the state-building process must reflect inclusive governance and contribute to lasting peace in the region. He praised the efforts of technical committees facilitating the process and urged all actors to keep the Somali people’s shared interest above political or clan considerations.
“This moment is not just for SSC-Khaatumo—it is for Somalia,” Hosh said. “A legitimate and inclusive state can only be built through lawful processes and mutual respect.”
The conference in Las’anod is a critical step in efforts to formalize SSC-Khaatumo as a Federal Member State within Somalia’s federal structure, amid growing local demands for representation and self-governance.
