Somali leaders congratulate Kenya’s new President-elect William Ruto

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud congratulated Kenya’s newly elected President William Ruto following his election victory on Monday.

“I offer my sincere congratulations to President-elect H.E William Ruto on becoming Kenya’s 5th President. My best wishes to you as you begin your tenure at State House Kenya. I look forward to working closely with you to advance our partnership in all areas of mutual benefit,”read a statement from President Sheikh Mohamud.

Former Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo also congratulated Kenya’s President-elect William Ruto and the people of Kenya following the successful conclusion of the elections.

“I wish to offer my most sincere congratulations to the President-Elect of Kenya H.E. William Ruto and the people of Kenya following the successful conclusion of the elections. You truly ran an enriching, overpowering campaign and may God help you fulfill your vision for your country.”

Kenya’s presidential election saw Deputy President William Ruto declared winner amidst claims of rigging by the opposition. Four of the electoral commission’s seven members declined to certify the outcome, claiming it was “opaque.”

According to the official findings, William Ruto beat his rival, Raila Odinga, by garnering 50.5% of the vote.
