Somali National Army Intensifies Operations in Lower Shabelle

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somali National Army has carried out a series of heavy security operations in parts of the Lower Shabelle region, targeting areas believed to be used as hideouts by militant groups.

Troops from the 203rd Battalion of the 20th Brigade, 1st Division of the elite Gorgor Commandos conducted clearance and stabilization operations in Aybuuteey, Jowhara, Awdheegle, Aseenda Buube and surrounding eastern areas of the region.

During the operations, soldiers carried out house-to-house searches in several neighborhoods, focusing on locations suspected of harboring extremist elements. The forces also dismantled a number of militant hideouts discovered during the operation.

Military officials say the operations are part of an ongoing campaign to eliminate insurgent presence and strengthen security across Lower Shabelle, with efforts continuing to expand pressure on militant networks operating in the region.
