Somali National Army marks 55th anniversary in several regions
Somali President Hassan Sheik Mohamoud has On Sunday attended the celebration of 55th anniversary of Somali National army which was held at the Head Quarters of Ministry of Defence of SFG.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and other Somali government officials have inspected a guard of honour mounted by SNA forces who lined up in readiness to commemorate the day.
The President in his address has expressed his gratitude to Somali’s national armed forces.
“The country cannot be nation without having arm forces which are ready to defend its territorial and land” he said.
Elsewhere in the country, the army celebrated the 55th anniversary in several regions controlled by Somalia government such as Baladwein and Dhusa-mareeb towns. Somali forces work under hostile conditions and endures difficulties, including lack of salaries to protect their country from enemy.
Somali national army (SNA) was established in 12th April in 1960 after Somalia got its full independence from the Italian colonials.
The army had been scattered after the collapse of the central government of Somalia in early 1990s. The army was later re-established by the former transitional Somali governments.
