Somali National Forces Recapture Key Al-Shabaab Stronghold in Mudug Region
GOOBJOOG NEWS | HARARDHERE: Somali National Forces backed by local militia have recaptured a key Al-Shabaab stronghold in Mudug region.
Military officials said the forces destroyed the bases located at Baraag Ali-Gaduud situated 50 kilometres west of Harardhere, in southern Mudug.
The officials said the bases had been used by the militants as hideouts to plan attacks against civilians in the region and that the operation had effectively disrupted Al-Shabaab’s ability to launch attacks in the surrounding areas.
The Somali National Forces have been carrying out targeted operations in Mudug region for the past two years and the capture of Baraag Ali-Gaduud represents a tactical win and a strategic advancement in the broader objective of securing the region.
The operation highlights the growing cooperation between government troops and local militias, a collaboration that has become increasingly vital in the fight against Al-Shabaab.
