Country’s leadership to iron out electoral issues in Mogadishu ahead of polls
Somali National Leadership Forum composed of the President, Prime Minister and leaders from regional states will convene in Mogadishu Wednesday to finalise pending ahead of the elections expected to start this month.
The leaders will among other issues work out the number of elders who will select the delegates, the elections venue for Somaliland and Hiiraan/Middle Shabelle regions and the budget for the elections.
The 30% quota for women will also form part of the talks. The leaders will be expected to deliberate on the formula for ensuring the 30% quota is realised.
The Federal Indirect Election Implementation Team will also present its report to Forum
Technical and implementation details are also likely to take a centre stage in the discussions to be initiated by Somali leaders today.
The NLF is poised to agree on a new election timetable.
