Somali National political Parties demand Electoral Commission resignation
The Somali National political Parties in separate released a statement calling for the Electoral Commission to resign following a day after the commission chairperson declared election extension.
The coalition noted that the commission presentation of election options on Sunday in the lower house directly indicates the plan of the committee and the leadership of the country in delaying the election period.
“The ruling party led by the president Farmajo requires election extension claiming and making an excuse of COVID 19 risk in the country,” said in a statement.
The forum alleges the electoral commission is not independent and fair as constitutionally mandated and is aligned its working with the country’s leadership in extending the governments mandate unconstitutionally.
