Somali Officer Cadets Urged to Help Forge a Unified Army

GOOBJOOG NEWS | DOHA: Federal Government of Somalia’s Defence Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, has urged Somali military cadets in Qatar to make the most of their training, saying their skills and discipline are vital to rebuilding a professional and unified national army.
The minister made the remarks during an official visit to the Ahmed Bin Mohammed Military College in Doha, where he met Somali National Army officer cadets currently undergoing military education.
He encouraged them to fully embrace the opportunity, emphasizing their critical role in shaping Somalia’s security future.
“You must make the most of this education,” Fiqi told the cadets. “Your skills, discipline, and sense of duty will be essential to restoring a professional and unified Somali armed forces capable of protecting our people and securing our country.”
During the visit, the Minister was received by the College Commander, Brigadier General Ali Mohamed Al-Fadala, and toured the institution’s key facilities, including training grounds, academic classrooms, and administrative departments.
The visit reflects Somalia’s broader efforts to modernize its defence institutions and build a new generation of capable, well-trained officers through international partnerships.
Qatar is among the countries supporting Somalia’s long-term security sector reforms through education and strategic cooperation.
