Somali Officials Seize Tobacco Container at Mogadishu Port
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somali Bureau of Standards has seized a container with 249 cartons of tobacco at the Mogadishu Seaport.
According to the Somali Bureau of Standards director, Mohamud Elmi Dirshe, the agency handed over the container to the Somali police forces.
The director said the move was part of the ongoing anti-drug measures in the capital, but did not mention whether the security forces had arrested the owners of the container.
“We seized this shipment of narcotics on 23/03/2024 at the port, which is dangerous to public health and is prohibited from being brought into the country,” he said. The agency further warned the businesses community against importing drugs that could affect the security and well-being of the community.
