Somali parliament to debate on the country’s 2015 budget
The members of federal parliament of Somalia are expected to review the 2015 proposed budget presented by the government of Somali Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali.
The chairman of financial committee of the federal government of Somalia will read the proposed budget of 2015 before the federal parliament of Somalia.
The lawmakers are now converging in the parliament building as to the debate and pass the budget of the government.
Ministry of Finance’s officials have earlier said that the budget will mainly be based on the funds received from the International donors and also from local sources like collection of tax.
When the central Somalia government led by the late dictator Mohamed Siad Barre collapsed in 1991, all state institutions vanished to be replaced by anarchy.
Somalia’s federal government, which controls only swathes of the southern and central regions, is striving to rebuild these institutions, especially those dealing with financial matters.
It is also keen on improving transparency and accountability following donor criticism of corruption.
The House is widely expected to endorse the budget after debating it.
