Somali Parliament to discuss the 2022 budget

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Members of both Houses of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, the House of the People and the Upper House, will on Sunday hold a joint meeting at Villa Hargeisa in Mogadishu.

Today’s meeting will focus on the first reading of the federal government’s 2022 budget which stands at $918.7m.

A statement issued last night by the Speaker of the House of the People of Somalia asked all the members of both houses to attend the joint meeting.

It is expected that all lawmakers will heed to the house leadership’s call as a meeting convened by the Speaker a couple of days ago had to be called off for lack of quorum. This was due to failure by the lawmakers to turn up as it was reported that most of them were out of the country.
