Somali Pilgrims Join Millions at Arafat for Pivotal Hajj Ritual

GOOBJOOG NEWS | ARAFAT, Saudi Arabia: Thousands of Somali pilgrims have safely arrived at Mount Arafat, joining more than two million Muslims in observing the most sacred rite of the Hajj pilgrimage – the Day of Arafat.
Clad in white ihram garments, Somali pilgrims stood in prayer and reflection from sunrise to sunset, seeking forgiveness and spiritual renewal. This key ritual marks the spiritual climax of Hajj and commemorates the Prophet Muhammad’s final sermon.
Their journey was overseen by Somalia’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, working closely with Saudi officials to ensure safe transport, accommodation, and health support.
Somali Hajj officials on the ground issued heat advisories as temperatures soared, urging pilgrims to stay hydrated, use umbrellas, and rest in tents during the hottest hours.
After sunset, pilgrims will travel to Muzdalifah to continue the final stages of the pilgrimage, including the symbolic stoning of the devil in Mina.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Somali pilgrims and ensuring a safe, spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience.
