Somali PM, Djibouti President Pledge Closer Ties in High-Level Talks

GOOBJOOG NEWS | DJIBOUTI CITY: Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre met with Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh on Monday in Djibouti City to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, with a focus on political, economic, and security cooperation.
The leaders reaffirmed their countries’ longstanding friendship and shared commitment to advancing stability and development in the Horn of Africa. The talks also addressed broader regional issues, underlining the strategic alignment between Mogadishu and Djibouti.
Prime Minister Barre highlighted Somalia’s recent gains under the DanQaran government, pointing to improvements in security, economic growth, political stability, and state-building. He attributed this progress to inter-agency collaboration and consistent regional support.
“Our achievements are the result of effective governance and the support of brotherly nations like Djibouti,” Barre said, expressing gratitude to the Djiboutian government and people for their steadfast assistance.
He also praised President Guelleh’s leadership in promoting peace and unity across the region, particularly among Somali communities both at home and abroad.
In response, President Guelleh reiterated Djibouti’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s recovery and nation-building efforts.
“Djibouti will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Somalia as a partner in peace and progress,” Guelleh said, emphasizing regional cooperation as key to long-term stability.
The meeting underscored the enduring alliance between Somalia and Djibouti, and their shared vision for a secure and prosperous Horn of Africa.
