PM Barre Marks Turkey’s Youth Day, Hails Historic Bilateral Ties

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Federal government of Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre joined celebrations at the Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu to mark Turkey’s National Youth and Sports Day, highlighting the pivotal role of youth in shaping national futures.
Speaking at the event, Barre called on young people to lead with integrity and ambition, describing youth as the cornerstone of a nation’s development and progress.
“The future of every nation lies in the hands of its youth,” he said. “They must guide their countries with vision and responsibility.”
Barre also extended warm congratulations to the Turkish government and people, noting the deep-rooted ties between Somalia and Turkey, forged through shared struggles and sustained by mutual respect.
“Turkey has been a true brother to Somalia, investing in our health, education, and infrastructure, training our security forces, and offering unwavering support in times of hardship,” he added.
The celebration featured cultural and sports performances marking both Turkey’s Youth Day, observed annually on May 19, and Somalia’s Youth Day, commemorated on May 15.
