GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia and the United Arab Emirates have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in key development sectors following a high-level meeting between Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre and UAE Ambassador Ahmed Juma Al-Rumaithi in Mogadishu on Monday.

The talks centered on expanding UAE-backed support for Somalia’s recovery efforts, with particular focus on infrastructure, economic development, and security cooperation.

Both sides agreed to scale up joint initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening state institutions.

In a statement, the Prime Minister’s office said the meeting underscored a shared interest in driving forward Somalia’s development agenda through strategic partnerships.

“The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the UAE’s continued support and reaffirmed Somalia’s readiness to enhance bilateral collaboration,” the statement said.

The UAE has played a growing role in Somalia’s post-conflict rebuilding, funding infrastructure projects, vocational training, and emergency relief programs.

The latest engagement is expected to accelerate the implementation of projects that directly impact Somali communities, particularly in areas recovering from insecurity.

Officials said the strengthened partnership reflects Somalia’s broader effort to attract long-term investment and technical support from trusted regional allies as it works to stabilize and rebuild the country.
