Somali Police Arrest Man on National Security Charges

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali police have arrested a man in Mogadishu on suspicion of engaging in activities deemed a threat to national security, authorities said on Saturday.

Cabdirahman Suleyman Jama was detained by officers at the Xamarweyne District Police Station, according to a statement from the Banadir Regional Police Command.

He is expected to appear before a court.

“The Somali public is urged not to support the Khawarij enemy. Anyone found to be compromising national security will face justice,” the police statement said, referring to extremist groups operating in the country.

The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by Somali authorities to tighten security and curb support for militant organizations.
