Somali Police Steps Up Efforts to Enhance Security in Mogadishu

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somalia’s police commander Brigadier General Asad Osman Abdullahi has emphasized the need by security forces to uphold the rights of citizens so as to ensure humane treatment of prisoners.  

Brigadier Abdullahi made the remarks Friday during a meeting with commanders of the police stations and units across the Banadir region.

The meeting, attended by key security personnel, focused on the current security situation in Mogadishu and strategies for improvement.

Abdullahi urged the officers to distinguish themselves from other forces through exemplary conduct and community-oriented policing.

“Our mission is to protect and serve the community with integrity and respect. By doing so, we can earn the trust and cooperation of the public,” said Commander Asad.

The discussions also highlighted the necessity of strengthening security measures in Mogadishu to address ongoing challenges and ensure the safety of residents. Commander Asad encouraged the police officers to engage positively with the community, fostering a sense of partnership and mutual respect.

This meeting marks a significant step in the Somali Police Force’s commitment to improving security and building a strong rapport with the community.
