Somali premier opens new station for the official news agency

Prime minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharma’arke has on Tuesday opened a new building in which the official news agency SONNA is operating at moment,.

A very colorful occasion for the opening of the Station of Somali National News Agency SONNA was held in attendance with Minister of Information, culture and Tourism, H.E. Mohamed Abdi Hayer, State Minister, H.E. Mohamed Hassan Bekos, Director General, Abdirisak Ali Yusuf, Director of SONNA, Abdirahman Yusuf Sheikh and other honorable guests and the staff.

Director Of SONNA, Abdirahman Yusuf said, “ The official news agency will release facts on the ground from all Somali territory, SONNA will solve thousands of news stories sent from Somalia to the rest of world which are not based on the reality, it will have cooperation and photos, news exchange issues with international news agency”,
Mr. Abdirahman added that Somali National News Agency is now quoted by International News Agencies, saying that SONNA has three versions of services which are Somali, Arabic and English languages.

Minister of Information, Mohamed Abdi Hayer Mareye thanked the Somali Premier for his visit to the Ministry of Information and opening the new station of SONNA which comprised of two pianos buildings.

“We have reopened Somali National News Agency a year earlier, it is functioning well, we have reconstructed this new building you are opening today, the Ministry of Information continues its service for the people of Somalia”, The Minister said.

Prime minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharma’arke praised officials of the Ministry of Information and urged them to do their best in returning the prestige,and role that SONNA had in the country back.

“Somali National News Agency had a vital role and image in Somalia, it should bring its early role back, It is to be qualified, SONNA new station is open and working now, I wish the staff will do their best”, Premier Sharma’arke said.

Somali National News Agency was founded on 5th January in 1964, four after the independence and it was main new source of Somalia and it is doing its best to come back into its previous position.
