Somali President holds talks with his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto

GOOBJOOG NEWS|NAIROBI: The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, together with his Kenyan counterpart, William Samoei Ruto, held discussions at State House Nairobi a day after the swearing-in of the Kenya Kwanza Kingpin.

President Hassan Sheikh congratulated Dr. Ruto on his inauguration as the country’s fifth president and wished him well as he embarks on steering the country forward from the place his predecessor, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, left.

A statement by the Somali Presidency said “the two leaders held discussions on various bilateral issues of mutual benefit, including trade and security cooperation between our two neighborly nations.”

For his part, President Ruto thanked the President and the entire delegation of the Federal Republic of Somalia for setting time apart from their busy schedules to attend his inauguration ceremony.

A tweet by the Kenyan leader said plans were in place to fast-track the implementation of the Joint Commission for Cooperation between Kenya and Somalia and that the plans would boost trade in miraa and fisheries, and ease movement between the two countries.
