Somali President Jets Off To The United Arab Emirates
The president of the federal republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud headed to Dubai after he received official invitation from the government of United Arab Emirates (UAE).
He is expected to take meeting with top leaders to discuss wide range issues majorly the relations between the two countries.
The spokesman for Somali presidential palace Dauud Aweys said that president and his delegation comprising of ministers and MPs headed to Dubai after official invitration from UAE government.
“High delegation led by Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has jetted off to Dubai. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent official invitation latter to the president” Dauud said.
The visit which had not been mentioned previously and appears to be hastily arranged has been speculated by some expressed the opinion that it was ostensibly to discuss with the Emirate officials about the investment affairs.
The United Arab Emirates has shown great interest in managing the ports of the Horn of Africa, with the Djibouti port currently under its administration and there are also proposed plans to include the ports of Kismanyo and Bosaso in Somalia.
UAE has implemented several developmental projects including newly constructed hospital in Abdul-Aziz district.
