Somali president meets president of Troop Contributing Countries
Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has met with leaders of Troop Contributing Countries to AMISOM on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Major issues discussed include the need for sustained support to Somalia and AMISOM by the international community in order to facilitate the political process that will lead to an electoral transition by October 2016.
The high-level forum also agreed to hold another summit level meeting in Djibouti by the end of October 2015.
Similarly, President Mohamud also met with Prime Minister David Cameron to further discuss the full implementation on the UK government’s recent commitment to deploy troops to Somalia.
The president also met with the King of Jordan to discuss more support in the fight against terrorism in the region.
