Somali President opens 8th Parliament session
President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has officially opened the eighth session of the Federal Parliament after two months of recess.
President Mohamud delivered a long speech on various angles based on the upcoming elections.
He said his government is doing its best to handle and achieve challenges and turn the country into a better situation and called for the politicians to play their role.
“This year we have serious issues, we have earlier agreed upon that Somali can’t hold one person one vote elections but decided to hold indirect elections. We are going to present the agreement before the parliament to endorse. Our principles are carry out what we can do and to legalise it” stated the president.
He expressed hope that Somalia can move forward if these agreed principles are implemented.
Mohamud urged lawmakers to double their hard work and get ready for the touch tasks ahead.
“As you know we are in the process of rebuilding Somalia’s governance after the anarchy. I urge the parliament to put more time, handwork and patience in this 8th session which crucial. You will be handed over the result of the National consultative Forum on elections. We are waiting you to execute you duties as you consider the challenges and the current situation” said Mohamud.
