GOOBJOOG NEWS | DOHA: State Minister of Communications and Technology, Ahmed Diri, used talks with Qatar’s ICT Minister Mohammed bin Ali Al-Mannai to underline Somalia’s drive to modernise public services and strengthen its digital foundations, saying deeper cooperation with Qatar will accelerate the country’s technological transformation.

Speaking on the sidelines of Mobile World Congress (MWC) Doha 2025, Diri said Somalia is entering a decisive phase in expanding digital governance, improving service delivery and building systems that allow citizens to access essential services with greater ease and transparency.

He emphasised that enhanced collaboration with Qatar would help Somalia upgrade its ICT infrastructure and bolster its cybersecurity capacity.

Al-Mannai, for his part, said Qatar is ready to increase support for Somalia’s digital reform agenda, offering technical expertise, training programs for civil servants and assistance in developing modern communication services.

He noted that investing in Somalia’s digital sector will strengthen institutional capacity and improve long-term service delivery.

The meeting ended with both ministers agreeing to accelerate joint projects, saying a stronger partnership will deliver lasting benefits for Somalia’s digital development and its future governance systems.
