Somali Regional State president speaks on the killing of MP Juweria Sub’is

GOOBJOOG NEWS|JIGJIGA: The Somali Regional president, Mustafe Muhammad Omar, has mourned the death of Juweria Sub’is, a member of both the Regional Parliament and the ruling Prosperity Party, following her killing on Tuesday.

The president said in a written statement that a committee had been formed to organize the funeral of the deceased, adding that those injured in yesterday’s tragic incident would get maximum medical attention.

“A committee has been established at the local level to organize the funeral of the deceased.” It is also fully under control that the injured receive medical assistance at all levels that they need,” according to the statement by the president.

The president assured the family of the deceased and the public that the soldier who committed the atrocious murder would be arrested and subjected to the punishment he deserves, adding that a discussion ought to be held to prevent such acts from occurring again, even though the deed could not be undone.

Juweria Sub’is, a Yali Network alumni, was shot to death by a federal government soldier at Garad Wiilwaal Airport in Jigjiga City on Tuesday around 4 p.m.

Three other people, her daughter, sister, and another member of parliament of the Somali Atonomous Region identified as Abdirashid Mohamed Garuf, were also injured in the incident.
