Somali Regional State President, Somali leaders welcome delisting of ONLF
GOOBJOOG NEWS: The president of the Somali Regional State in Ethiopia Mustafa Omar has welcomed the decision by the Somali cabinet to delist ONLF as a terrorist organization, terming the decision by the Council of Ministers as “significant and fruitful”.
Omar condemned acts similar to those subjected to the people of the Somali Region, saying that the previous decision was an act that terrified the oppressed people of the Somali Region and violated the culture of governance, both Somali and Islamic.
Meanwhile, Jubaland President hailed the decision by PM Roble’s cabinet to correct the historic mistake of the previous Government in recognizing the ONLF as a terrorist organization, terming the renditioning of Abdikarim Sheikh Muse to Ethiopia as a disgrace to the nation and the dignity of the Somali people.
Former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, also commended Prime Minister Roble and his Cabinet for rescinding the September 2017 decision by the previous cabinet to label ONLF as a “terrorist” organisation.
Hassan Sheikh noted that Somalia was returning to the path of moderate diplomacy, and that labeling ONLF terrorists was a sign of the lack of independence of the country’s foreign policy in recent times.
