Somali security chiefs brief president on offensive against Al-shabaab

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Top security chiefs from different sections of the National Forces Thursday briefed  President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on the ongoing nationwide operation against the Al-Shabaab militants.

The meeting, attended by Defense Minister Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, Somali National Army commander General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhayadin and Somali Police Force Commander Brigadier General Sulub Ahmed Firin was convened by the president to discuss the general security situation in the country.

The security chiefs presented to the president their report about the first phase of the war against Al-shabaab and also their operational plan on short-term goals aimed at gaining ground against the terror group and liberating more regions.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud commended the selflessness of the Somali forces who are committed to liberating areas still under the control of terrorists. He mentioned that the mobilization of public forces will significantly contribute to the struggle.
