Somali security forces nab 10 Al-Shabaab suspects in Jalalaqsi
Somali security forces backed by African Union troops on Saturday arrested over ten people in an operation conducted in Jalalaqsi town in central Somalia.
Somali security officials in the town said that ten Al-Shabaab suspects were among 150 people who were nabbed during the operation.
The suspects will be interrogated by the security officers for their role in the spate of attacks in the restive district, the administration.
A police officer in the town who declined to be named because he was authorised to speak to the media said the security operation which was conducted on Saturday evening was very successful in eliminating threats in the town.
He noted that the security forces will continue their operation in order to eliminate the threat posed by Al-Shabaab groups in Somalia.
He urged the security forces to continue helping needy people during such operations in the country.
Al Shabaab was pushed out of Mogadishu by African Union peacekeeping forces in 2011. But it has remained a potent threat in Somalia, launching frequent attacks aimed at overthrowing the Western-backed government.
