Security forces seize bomb laden car in operation in Mogadishu
Security forces in Mogadishu Tuesday seized a car loaded with explosives and nabbed people suspected to have been planning attacks in the city.
“A car packed with explosives and 3 AK-47 rifles were seized in raids on a house in Hodan district, according to Benadir regional administration spokesman,” Abdifatah Omar Halane said.
Security forces cordoned off streets around the house and soldiers patrolled the Hodan district of the city.
The seizure follows weeks of heightened alert in the city after intelligence agencies warned of possible attacks on key installations including the airport and the seaport.
The suspects were not immediately identified to belonging to any group but the militant group Al-Shabaab has often carried out attacks including February 29 attack on SYL hotel, in Mogadishu which claimed over 15 lives.
