Somali Senate Passes Disability Rights Bill

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Senate has approved the Disability Rights Bill marking a major milestone in the protection and enhancement of the rights of people living with disabilities.

The Senators sitting today endorsed the bill which will now be transmitted to the Office of the President for the presidential assent and subsequent enactment into law.

The passage of the bill will be instrumental in protecting and promoting the rights of people with disabilities in all sectors of the society.

The bill also entrenches practices both in the public and private sector that take cognizance of and affords equal treatment to people living with disabilities.
