GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somali National Army (SNA) troops on Tuesday delivered water to residents in Middle Shabelle, in a move highlighting the military’s role beyond its fight against al Shabaab.

Elite Gor Gor units, led by Colonel Saahid Farah Jama Jareer, commander of the 1st Battalion, supplied water to villages of Gumarre and Xagaay-deeg, where shortages have worsened daily hardships.

Community members welcomed the gesture, saying it underscored the presence of state authority in remote areas often vulnerable to militant activity.

The SNA leadership said the operation reflects a twin mandate of confronting Islamist insurgents while also helping civilians cope with humanitarian needs.
