Somali, Turkish Presidents Discuss Security and Economic Ties

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone conversation on Saturday, reaffirming their countries’ growing strategic partnership.

The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and global developments, according to a statement from Villa Somalia.

President Erdoğan emphasized Turkey’s continued support for Somalia’s development through democratic governance, and pledged increased cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

He also reaffirmed Ankara’s commitment to expanding joint ventures in energy and fisheries, two key sectors in Somalia’s economic revival.

President Hassan expressed deep appreciation for Turkey’s enduring and multifaceted support, including infrastructure, security, and humanitarian aid, calling the partnership “a model of brotherly cooperation.”

President Erdoğan also extended warm Eid al-Adha greetings to President Hassan and the Somali people ahead of the upcoming holiday.
